Well, after months of inactivity, I am officially back! since the last major post, there has been a lot of activity going on with weaverville and northern Buncombe County... Lets talk about development, since I am so interested in it... First off... Hometrust Bank moved to a BIGGER, better branch at 5 Northridge Commons Parkway (beside the ABC store), it has a beautiful fireplace,flatscreen tv, and 4 drive thru lanes with an ATM. 2nd: Weaver village has started construction between the weaver blvd Ingles and the Main Street redlight. It is 13 acres of mixed-use with construction expected to wrap up by Labor Day. Zaxbys, Goodwill, and POSSIBLY Aldi's and FATZ CAFE is expected to open. 3rd: Dairy Queen and the Rebuilt Shell gas station is expecting to open to the public by 10 am, June 1st 2011. Went by there today and they still have a ton of work to do; including installing the gas pumps, finishing the brick and stone work, and pave. The Dairy Queen is going to have a drive-thru.

It seems FOREVER for any other store to open in the center. If you had the choice what would you like to be going into the center?

One more thing, I have looked at the centers website and the site plans CHANGED AGAIN! It looks like we might be getting a 60000-70000 sq. ft store (KOHLS, JC PENNY, BELK in the making in possibly 2011??) which will be to the left of Walmart in the huge empty field, and a possible Dollar Tree. They have also moved the weaver house (the empty victorian house behind walmart) across the road to a small 1/2 acre lot and they are restoring the home to accomodate it for offices. I will try and keep you all informed for the latest news on this center.

Walmart grand opening

The new Walmart supercenter in weaverville will be having its grand opening on Wednesday June 17th 2009 @ 7:30 AM with it officially opening @ 8 AM for shoppers.

Weaverville Ingles

The weaverville ingles (140 weaver blvd) is planning on a re grand-opening at the end of this month. The new garden center is open and it is quite impressive.

Lowes

The Lowes in weaverville (24 Northridge Commons Parkway) will be open to the public at 7 am on Friday.

Walmart

Walmart (25 Northridge Commons Parkway) will be open to the public on June 17th, 2009. Tenants inside walmart include: Subway, Woodforest Bank, and a SmartStyle Salon.

The Contractor is closing one lane to construct part of a bridge. There is a traffic signal (red light) directing the movement of traffic through the project 24 hours a day. Traffic impacts should be minimal as the signal cycles from red to green, and vice versa, quickly.

The weaverville Walmart is one step ahead to opening. The contractor has the signs on the building, the parking lot is stripped, and the parking lot signs are up. The widening work on Monticello Road as well as US 25-70 are almost done, with the only things left to do are: Road signs, turn on the new traffic signals and install guardrails. I expect all work done by the first of may. Stay tuned as I will try and get photos up by the end of this week

RALEIGH 9:20 PM -- The Fayetteville PD is searching for a missing child: Dillon Jordan Cromartie. Dillon Jordan Cromartie is a 2-year-old Hispanic male, approximately 2 feet 0 inches tall, weighing 40 pounds. He has brown hair, and brown eyes. Last seen wearing a long sleeve blue and white shirt, brown pants, white shoes, and a black jacket. No photo avaliable at this time.
Allegedly, there is 1 abductor: Lee David Currie. Lee David Currie is described as 60 years old, black, male, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 220 pounds. He has black and gray hair and brown eyes. Last seen wearing a yellow shirt and blue jeans. He has a scar on his left cheek. The abduction occurred at 8243 Umstead Dr, in Fayetteville and the vehicle was last seen traveling on School Street in Fayetteville. The vehicle is a White 1993 BMW 740i with NC license tag number PZW-8080. Four door sedan.

Flat Creek Village

This is a picture of the "coming soon" Flat creek village". If you havent seen it, it is a big piece of land thats cut into 8 tracts of land. The only building is a 2 story building with a doctors office, a rainbow vacuum cleaner sales center, mercer design center, and the developers office. Right above the land is where North Windy Ridge School is as well as the future North Asheville Baptist church (might become the largest church in WNC once its built, surpassing Biltmore Baptist.

Good evening!!! I just want to let you all know that periods of icy weather (including SNOW) is expected overnight, with accumulations expected to quickly happen as surface temps are still below freezing. Even though this event will be light, roads will quickly turn worse by morning sunday because of this. Roads and Sidewalks which were treated with salt or sand will be ok, but it will be the side roads and especially higher mountain roads/ bridges/ overpasses that will possible become treacherous. Snow will again be possible tomorrow night thru early tuesday.

Better be careful out on the roads tonight, snow is falling and the roads are starting to become icy out. Most of the snow will be done by midnight, but moe is expected by tomorrow night into Thursday.

Jersey Mikes coming to weaverville

I have an announcement, Jersey Mikes has confirmed to opening in Weaverville at NorthRidge Commons. There has also been no confirmation date for Lowes and Walmart to have their grand opening. I went by there today and they are hard at work on widening Monticello Road, and before long they will pave the road and get it prepped for the traffic to Northridge Commons which might have its grand opening by MidSummer.

I just got back from Northridge Commons (where walmart and lowes is located) and took a ton of photos... So far they have lowes done, and it looks like that walmart is about 80 percent complete. They have the access roads paved and they are starting to pave the lowes parking lot.

Welcome to the blog site for the weaverville area, where I wlll try to keep you (the public) informed about the happenings in weaverville, nc. Weaverville is approximately 10 miles north of Asheville, NC and it is growing fast. The town is getting a new walmart and lowes which should open around the mid-part of 2009, with a few restaurants, banks, and shops opening along with it. The population of zip code 28787 is closing in around 19, 300 people. Weaverville is STILL a small town, with a lot of local restaurants, stores, and friendly people. And when you come visit weaverville for the first time or if you live here, you will immediately fall in love with everything it has to offer. So if you have anything that you want to drop by, dont hesitate to send.
